http://www.myspace.com/djpanicdcDunkelheit is the only European alternative music dance party in Washington, DC. Dunkelheit means “darkness” in German and it lives up to its name by featuring the best dark electro music from the other side of the Atlantic. Expect to hear industrial, goth, synthpop, EBM, IDM, metal, noise, techno, trance, and other experimental types of music to keep you dancing.

The Guest DJ is Mighty Mike Saga. An accomplished DJ, promoter, and graphic designer in Philadelphia, it is an honor to have Mike Saga as the guest DJ for November. Some of the highlights of his career are Dracula’s Ball, Nocturne, and Shock Therapy in Philadelphia; Smack! and Byte in New York City; Wave Gotik Treffen in Germany. Mike Saga has created some awesome DJ mixes and will be giving away CDs at Dunkelheit. Anyone who has experienced his sets knows this will be an event not to be missed! www.mikesaga.com

Birthday Party! In addition to the special guest DJ, this is also Phoebe’s birthday celebration. A Philly native, Phoebe has been a part of the DC scene since 2007, starting with Bound’s street team. After Bound moved to a monthly format, Phoebe teamed up with DJs Panic and Hardware to create Dunkelheit in March 2009. There will be plenty of vegan cupcakes to celebrate her birthday.

Dunkelheit has residents DJ Panic and Hardware, two bars, large dance floor, private smoking deck, and a kitchen serving up delicious Ethiopian and American food. Don’t forget to bring cash for the upstairs bar since credit cards are only accepted downstairs.

Dunkelheit is located at Asefu, 1920 9th Street NW, Washington, DC 20009 (Between T and U Streets). The club is Metro accessible from the yellow/green lines at U Street Station. Take the Vermont Avenue exit, walk one block on U Street and make a right onto 9th Street. There are also two small pay parking lots on the same block as Asefu as well as street parking.

Dunkelheit is open from 9pm to 3am. 18+ with valid ID. Cover is $5.

Don’t forget Free Birthdays at Dunkelheit! This month, anyone born on November 6th, 7th, and 8th are our special November birthday guests. Please come out and celebrate for free!
