Throughout April, Midnight will be celebrating "10 Years of Goth at The Meeting Place"--and we've got some exciting special parties (all at the usual $5.00 cover) lined up for you, starting with the show by 23 Rainy Days this week. DJs Vlad, JavieR, and Valdyr are spinning, and Slyx Fashions will vend. And be sure to check out the new drinks deals!
23 RAINY DAYS LIVE
Midnight and Radio-Active- Music.com are very pleased to bring you another show by one of our most popular live acts last year, 23 Rainy Days (www.23rainydays. com & www.myspace. com/23rainydays) . Highly praised, too, in reviews from publications ranging from On Tap to ReGen, this gothic electro group has been touring nationally. Come out and welcome them back to their home base, Washington, on Saturday.
IN THE DJ BOOTH
Most of the evening will be devoted, as always, to highly danceable sets by a trio of DJs--Vlad, JavieR, and our guest, Valdyr (of Radio-Active- Music.com) . Valdyr's always especially eager to spin at least one set of brand new music, and all three will keep you in the mood to boogie until we have to pull the plug on the sound system at 2:45 a.m.
SLYX WILL VEND
Over in the vendors corner you'll find the always popular Slyx Fashions (http://slyx. com). SF offers the very finest latex rubber wear, both off-the-rack and custom-made, in gothic, fetish, and contemporary styles. It also sells a line of vac beds, and our customers assure us that watching demos of those are easily worth the modest Midnight cover price all by themselves!
NEW DRINK DEALS FOR APRIL
Depressed by all the latest news of war and economic disaster? Then come drown your sorrows with The Meeting Place's latest round of drink specials. From 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. the bar staff will be serving two-for-one beverages. And from 11:00 until last call, try one of these deals (each price is plus tax): all domestic bottled beers, $2.50; Captain Morgan, $4.00; all Bacardi flavors, $4.00; Long Island ice teas, $5.00.
HEY, THERE'S MORE!
* ADMISSION DISCOUNTS -- Most places would use booking a band as an excuse to hike the cover, but not Midnight. We're charging $5.00, the regular amount, this Saturday; and there are ways you can get in for even less. Our first twelve guests enter free each week. Or, show our cash table staff your current high school (must be 18) or college (includes faculty, staff) ID, and your door charge is only $3.00. And the winner of the "Question of the Week" contest (posted Thursday nights on our LJ, www.livejournal. com/community/ dcmidnight) gets added to the guest list as well.
* DRAWING -- Stick around after the band for our weekly drawing. It's free and easy to enter. Just fill out one of the slips on our literature table, place it in the nearby cauldron, and you could go home with a recent CD by Tapping the Vein, Shiny Toy Guns, DJ Ferret, or XUBERX, or receive a $10.00 coupon good for free food and non-alcoholic beverages.
* CAKE -- We'll serve free cake after the band, too, in honor of some of this week's b'day celebrants-- Jon, Reggie, Todd, Medic, Jennifer, Sarah, and Leslie.
* FOOD -- Hungry for more than cake or the tray of free candy we leave out for our earlybirds? The Meeting Place's kitchen is open and serving until 1:00 a.m.
* COAT CHECK -- We offer a year-round coat and bag check in the Back Hall area that's secure and inexpensive.
For the last decade there's been a gothic/industrial party at The Meeting Place virtually every Saturday night. From 1999 to 2002 there was Catacomb, and then Midnight opened in November 2002. Come carry on the tradition, starting this week with our 23 Rainy Days show!
